GIUSEPPE VERDI'S ART COLLECTION

In accordance with Giuseppe Verdi's expressed desire, all of the significant objects that were kept at Villa Sant'Agata near Busseto until 1901 were brought to the Rest Home for Elderly Musicians. Later, owing to a lack of exposition space, some of these significant objects were given to the Museo Teatrale alla Scala in anticipation of the organization of rooms dedicated exclusively to Master Verdi.

Today, at Casa Verdi, you can see a reconstruction of the dining room as it appeared in the apartment of Giuseppe Verdi and his wife Giuseppina Strepponi at Palazzo Doria in Genoa. The objects displayed in this room and in the one next to it reflect the affection, admiration, and sincere esteem on the part of the singers and musicians who had direct contact with the Master as well as the people who simply admire his music.

The objects were restored by Paolo Bolognese's Rinnovarte under the guidance of the Department of Historic, Artistic, and Demo-ethno-anthropological Holdings of Milan.
