The in-house Social Service aids and assists the Guests, paying particular attention to the arrival and integration of new Guests.

First of all, there is an attempt to prevent problems from arising by developing a proper strategy for overcoming discomfort or conflict when individual Guests or a group of them have particular difficulties.

The Service stands by Guests within the Casa, whatever their emotional or relationship-related needs vis-à-vis those close to them and other institutions.

The Chief of Social Services runs the service directly and looks after organizational liaisons between the service itself and the Casa’s other services.

Specifically, he or she:
- is part of the team that sets of individual assistance programs and reviews them periodically;
- accepts and examines admission applications;
- looks after the integration of Guests;
- provides counsel for carrying out administrative matters (pensions, civilian invalid conditions, provision of prostheses and aids, etc.);
- looks after solving individual Guests’ problems by conversing frequently with them and promoting social initiative and relationships among them;
- looks after relationships with family members and/or takes part in protecting people who are alone with respect to relational, economic, and social problems;
- facilitates access to information about the activities and services that are provided;
- examines suggestions and comments;
- deals with complaints and recommendations.

The Chief of Social Services assigns a room to each Guest, bearing in mind both the individual’s needs and what is available at the Casa.

The objective of the Casa di Riposo’s activities is to have Guests adapt to and become integrated in community life, with the aim of improving the quality of life and making use of the individual Guests’ resources.

With this objective in view, the Activities Service promotes and organizes cultural, social, recreational, and expressive activities for the Guests by stimulating their individual resources and abilities.

Specifically, numerous initiatives are promoted, among which we find:
- Social, cognitive, and recreational activities;
- Recreational group games;
- Cognitive games to stimulate the memory and attention span;
- Holidays, touristic excursions, outside trips, film sessions;
- Encounters with groups of visitors, school children, associations, etc.
- Cultural activities:
- Visits to museums and exhibitions;
- Organization of concerts and entertainments with the Casa;
- Participation in events and concerts provided by the city’s societies and associations;
- Participation in various courses organized by the administration.
- Expressive activities:
- Organization of musical entertainments performed by the Guests;
- Crafts laboratories: a painting workshop and a workshop for paper flowers and other objects exist in the Casa.

The Activities Service is assisted by volunteers.
